Surprised by things being great!

Transition is a long slog, isn't it? You work and work and work, and still all those other people do things that are completely undermining your efforts. Even worse, quite a lot of the time, you work and work and work and then do something that undermines your own efforts. Like not managing to do any of my journeys this week in anything other than a car.

But I've been a bit surprised lately by things turning out really well.

Norwich FarmShare is up and flowering and fruiting- it's been delivering crates of amazingly fresh, fantastically local, utterly delicious food into Norwich for a month now. New members are joining all the time and telling us how much they love it.

Jon's done amazing work on Norwich community Bees, pulling a community together to create a really successful start for our bees. Our first hive has been sourced, built and is now in place ready for our first bees, which should be with us by the end of the month. I can't wait to meet them.

And the last of my three great things is an update to my post about carbon conversations and how amazingly so many people change their lives through it. Another person who did the course with Esme and I got back in touch last week. "I've got some news!" she said. "Oooh!" we said. Turns out she’d been having a good long think about her life and decided that commuting for a couple of hours every day was not how she wanted to spend her time, however much she loved living in the countryside.

So she sold her house and moved into the city.

Great news about your new beehive. If anyone is interested in knowing how a Transition community beekeeping scheme works do come along to our Bungay Beehive Day next Sunday 24 July, 10.30am-4pm. We're celebrating the honeybee and other pollinating insects along with the plants they love:

There will be some great talks (Natural Beekeeping, River of Flowers, Healing Power of Honey and Bumblebees), a Bee and Flower walk, stalls, info and workshops including making bee hotels. Everyone is welcome.

    Hope to see you there!
